The trade name is not a measurement. A "16 oz deli" in this catalogue is PF-520 at 470 ml — 15.89 oz, rounded up. A "17 oz" is PF-522 or PF-L500 at 500 ml, rounded down. If your purchase order says 16 oz and your supplier ships 500 ml, both of you are technically correct and commercially incompatible.

Why this costs money

Your retail buyer sells in ounces. Your distributor prices in millilitres. Your factory moulds by cavity. Three units, one product.

The failure mode is quiet: the container arrives, holds 470 ml, and your customer's fill line — set for 500 ml — overflows. Nobody notices until the first production run.

Two rules fix it:

  • Put ml in the PO, with oz as a reference only, marked "nominal"
  • Ask for the brim capacity (to the rim) and the usable capacity (to the fill line), separately. They differ by 8–15% on most containers. PF-SQ1200 is 1200 ml to rim; working fill is about 1050 ml.

FAQ

Is 750 ml the same as 25 oz? Effectively yes — 750 ml is 25.36 oz, and the trade name is 25 oz. If a customer orders "750 ml / 25 oz", the two are consistent.

Is a 32 oz container 1 litre? No. 32 oz is 946 ml. A "32 oz soup container" is 950 ml in this catalogue, which rounds to 1 litre but is not. One litre is 33.8 oz.

Do you quote in ml or oz? Both, but the contract figure is ml. Oz appears on the artwork only.

Which is bigger, 16 oz or 500 ml? 500 ml is 16.9 oz, so slightly larger. Our PF-520 (470 ml / 16 oz) and PF-522 (500 ml / 17 oz) are the same carton size and the same price band — the difference is the fill line, not the footprint.
