Right-sizing is the cheapest saving in foodservice
Going from 2oz to 1.5oz cuts sauce cost by 25% and increases sets per 40HQ from 1,633,000 to 2,314,000 — a 42% freight improvement. For a chain doing 2,000 orders a day, one sauce cup per order, that is roughly 730,000 cups a year: the difference between the two sizes is about 180,000 cups of sauce and a materially smaller freight bill.
Most chains never test this. A 44 ml cup holds a standard 30 g dip portion with headspace.
The lid is where leaks come from
A 59 ml cup with a flat lid will open when the bag tilts. If the cup travels with a delivery order, specify a plug-fit lid. At this unit price, the lid is 30–40% of the set cost and the only part that determines whether the customer gets sauce or a stained bag.
Nesting and line speed
At 2 g per cup (PF-SC10) and 3.5 g (PF-SC20), these are made in high-cavity moulds. Ask for a denesting test video before a container order — a tight nesting gap jams the filling line, and the cost of that is far higher than the cup.
FAQ
Is 2oz exactly 59ml? 2 US fl oz = 59.1 ml. Sold as 2oz.
Can I print a logo? On the lid, yes (IML). On the cup body, minimum run applies.
Minimum order? These run in large batches; ask for the current minimum per size and colour.
