The audit file

Supermarket chains audit suppliers annually. The file they ask for:

  1. DoC for each SKU, in the supplier's or importer's name
  2. Migration test report, current
  3. Resin and masterbatch declarations
  4. Factory social compliance audit (SMETA, BSCI or equivalent)
  5. Traceability procedure — lot code to production date
  6. Complaint handling record

A supplier who cannot produce items 1–3 within a week will not pass, regardless of price.

Colour consistency is the hidden cost

Retail deli programs use colour to signal product tiers. If the red lids drift between orders, the shelf looks inconsistent and the buyer notices. Ask for a retained sample per lot and a colour tolerance in ΔE terms (≤1.5 is a reasonable target).

FAQ

Do supermarkets buy direct or through distributors? Both. Direct programs are usually above 500,000 pcs/year.

Is anti-fog always required? For chilled cabinets, effectively yes.

What about sustainability? Many chains now require a recyclability statement — #5 PP is defensible if the local stream accepts it.

Send the SKU list and the retailer's specification. We will map it against what we can document and flag any gap before you bid.
